Wesley (SwordClown) Simms

Coming into HEMA in 2022 with a fierce interest on becoming a real life viking. I fell in love with the format of this type of martial art. The freedom you have to experiment with styles and weapon types, and the kind of people you meet really sold it to me. After Instructing with the Order of the Blade for 2+ years at their Derby chapter and other events, Wes decided to part ways, focusing on the English sources and tournament focused training. Main weapons, are Longsword and Sabre, I know, boring.

Level 2 Coaching, First aid certified

David (Hopping Menace) Wrighton

Instructor (In training)

Dave has a background in Modern Olympic fencing, even being part of instructing and running their Uni team in Leeds for a few years. He began his HEMA journey also began with the Order of the blade, ending up being the only rapier guy in the midlands I think 🤣 His focus is by far, single handers, complex hilts and fancy pants swashbucklery. He's also found himself 4th place in Longsword before, although he admits he's still scrubbing to get rid of the stench.

Working towards level 2 Instructor and the rest.
